All Embroidery Sewn in Our Shop

Our customers enjoy watching our commercial embroidery machines in operation.  They are a good example of how the home sewing machine, created during the industrial revolution, has evolved with today’s innovative computer technology. The machines are specifically made for the apparel industry; the result is an upscale method of decorating garments.

Embroidery is a decorative printing process and that process starts with transforming designs to embroidery stitches using vector artwork.  Our art department can create vector art as well as convert high resolution images to vector art, which can be edited and sized for various uses with no change in the clarity.  A vectorized design must then be converted to stitches that the embroidery machine can read, a process called digitizing.

ts

Digitizing: Converting a design into a work of art using thread.

Basic embroidery stitches; a running stitch, satin stitch, a tatami (fill) stitch are used to provide texture, angles, and dimensional details to a design. A good digitizer uses these stitches and a myriad of thread colors to create a work of art.   The design, sized and digitized, may be used repeatedly, with different color layouts and with no additional set up costs.

Preparing Each Piece of Clothing for Embroidery

Quality embroidery does start with the digitizing, but the garment must be properly prepared for sewing  to permit the design to become a part of the garment. Choice of placement of designs are standard but relate directly to where a hoop can be placed. Backing material is needed to stabilize fabric to ensure the design registers (layers line up), so fabric doesn’t pucker, and the garment  washes well.  Hooping the garment (including the backing) provides a smooth surface with the necessary tension to properly sew a design.  Hoops come in a variety of sizes and shapes to accommodate designs.

Embroider Complicated Designs or Basic Designs

Embroidery costs include artwork preparation, digitizing, the design stitch count, and sewing the design onto the garment. Projects can be a simple name/ number/monogram (no digitizing costs), or a complicated logo. If the project requires creation of a new logo, then it will require an approval of a stitched sample before final sewing. Anything can be created, digitized, and sewn.
